Small Groups
While Sunday morning Bible fellowship is imperative for gaining knowledge of God’s truth for our lives, it is only part of the equation. Small groups provide an opportunity to study more specific applications of God’s word. To quote our pastor, “Small groups simply are the church at its best!” Below is a list of small groups for Fall 2006.
This fall, Sunday evening groups on Henry Blackaby’s Experiencing God. Contact Paul, 372, 2744 if you are interested in being a leader or participant.
Divorce Recovery, as needed. Led by Paul Jones, 372-2744.
Monday, 6 p.m., Beth Moore’s Bible study Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit, led by Marsha Forbes. Based on Galatians 5:22-23, the study equips believers to come to know the freedom of a life filled with the fruit of the Spirit. Participants are challenged to pursue the only route to developing these godly character traits: maintaining an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God. (11 sessions)
Tuesday morning 9:15 – 11:15…Starts Sept. 5 ………………………Beth Moore’s study Daniel: Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy is a two part study reflecting the content of the Book of Daniel. The first portion (Dan. 1-6) deals wil the life of the prophet and is extremely contemporary. Daniel faced pressures and temptations similar to those of a Christina in today’s world. He teaches and models for us how to develop enduring integrity in an enticing world. The second half of the study explores the prophecies of Daniel 7-12. It deals in-depth with the historical details, predictions, and fulfillments detailing history from the time of Daniel, through the interbiblical period, the time of Christ, and on to the second coming of Christ. (12 sessions) Susan Smith, leader.

Senior Ministry-They may be retired, but they sure aren’t sitting in their rocking chairs. The UHBC seniors are everything but inactive. Recent field trips have included seeing the exhibit of Etruscan Arts in Shawnee, a day trip to the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center, a day trip to the Omniplex Science Museum, and a visit to the newly opened Oklahoma History Center. When they’re not on the road going somewhere, they take on their identity as the “Can Do” people (if you CAN join us, DO.) The Can Do people meet at the church the third Thursday of each month about 10 a.m. for a hot game of dominoes. The ladies show up about 11:00 with fixins for a covered dish lunch. Afterward, they usually all pitch in and give the church auditorium a pick-up cleanup. It’s good food, good fellowship, and good fun. If it sounds like something you’d like to get involved in, call Bill Cooper, at 377-4020 or drop him an email - billcarol@provalue.net
Nursing Home Ministry-For the most part, those in nursing homes are unable to attend church because of physical and health limitations. They could find themselves isolated if it were not for the efforts of the UHBC nursing home ministry. A group of men from UHBC go to Grace Living Center on special occasions like Fathers and Mothers Day, Easter and Christmas and sing old time hymns that are favorites of the residents. This Christmas 2005, the ministry organized and prepared personalized Christmas gifts for the residents, some of whom might not have been remembered otherwise. All involved with the ministry say they get back great blessings from their involvement. For more information about participating in this ministry, call Bill Cooper at 377-4020 or drop him an email - billcarol@provalue.net
